Still time to have your say on town masterplans

RESIDENTS and shop owners in Ballyclare and Glengormley are being encouraged to take up the last opportunity to be part of the consultation on the draft masterplans for Glengormley and Ballyclare.

The consultation period will close on Friday, August 27.

The plans can be viewed in Woodsides in Ballyclare and Northcott Shopping Centre, Glengormley, as well as on the council’s website www.newtownabbey.gov.uk and the Department for Social Development's website www.dsdni.gov.uk

The draft proposals have identified key development opportunities in both town centres, including new retail and leisure sites by redeveloping derelict and run down areas, as well as physical improvements to create new public spaces in the town centres.

The Mayor of Newtownabbey, Alderman Paula Bradley has urged local residents and shop owners who have not yet taken part in the consultation to do so.

“The draft masterplans are important pieces of work to map out the potential future design of our town centres and we would encourage residents and traders to respond to the consultation before the closing date if they would like their views to be taken on board.

“I would encourage everyone who is interested in the future development of both town centres to have a look at the proposals and make comments.”
