Stole after ban from shops

At a hearing of Craigavon Magistrates Court on September 28 Robert Mark McClelland (38), whose address was given as Clonavon Avenue, Portadown, admitted stealing alcohol and a razor to the value of £150 from Tescos on August 13 this year.

He also pleaded guilty of going equipped for theft with a foil lined bag.

He was released on his own bail of £250 and a condition of bail was that he was not to enter any retail premises.

The case was adjourned until November 2 so that a pre-sentence report could be obtained.

But he appeared again at the local magistrates’ court last Friday accused of three more shoplifting offences.

All three offences happened at Asda when he stole alcohol worth £127 on September 7, alcohol valued at £134 on September 8 and £60 of alcohol on October 3.

He was in breach of his bail conditions by entering retail premises.

His barrister said a pre-sentence report was due on November 2 and asked that these matters should be taken to that date as well.

Deputy District Judge Amanda Brady re-admitted McClelland to bail.

She made it his own bail of £100 with the conditions that he is not to be under the influence of alcohol in public and he is not to enter any retail premises which sell alcohol.
