The court heard that on August 5 at 7am police were notified that an oil tank had been stolen from a house in Carrick Drive where the resident had recently passed away.

The caller named the defendant. He was seen walking with it towards the Banbridge Road. Police located the tank a short distance from the defendant’s home.

On November 24 the defendant and another person had been requested to leave the International Bar in Market Street by staff.

Outside the premises they were seen on CCTV urinating against a wall at the side of the front door.

A barrister for Hagan said the theft was an opportunistic, impulsive act.

She explained that in November he had been watching football in the bar and had been drinking from early on. When he was removed from the bar he urinated at the exit.
