Terry Foster, Mount Charles, Banbridge, admitted stealing clothing to the value of £210 belonging to Donaghy’s shoe shop on September 9 this year.

She was fined £25, with a £15 offender’s levy, and ordered to pay £100 in restitution.

Banbridge Magistrates Court heard last Thursday that CCTV showed the defendant and a co-accused entering the shop.

The other person went into the changing rooms and Foster brought items of clothing to the rooms.

When they left security tags were found lying on the floor in the changing rooms.

When police spoke to Foster she admitted the theft.

A solicitor representing the defendant said that at this particular time her client had been taking legal highs.

She added that Foster had been referred by her GP in relation to counselling and since this incident in September she had been trying to get her life back on track.

District Judge Rosalie Prytherch pointed out that the defendant had received a police caution in July and then this offence had happened in September.

She added that if Foster stayed off legal highs that would be the best course of action.
