Stolen car batteries recovered by police in Moneymore

A number of stolen car batteries were recovered by police in Moneymore by police officers.

Posting on their Facebook page, Cookstown PSNI said: “On Saturday night Officers from Cookstown Neighbourhood Policing Team on preventative patrol arrested 2 men and recovered a quantity of suspected stolen car batteries in Moneymore.

“It is believed that further crimes may have been prevented by this action. Keeping you safe. If you have any information please contact the Cookstown neighbourhood team on 101.”

Meanwhile, police in neighbouring Magherafelt have revealed a successful clamp down on illegal fuel.

The police said: “We routinely work with partner agencies in a bid to keep you safe and deal with issues of concerns.

“In fact, as part of a joint operation with HMRC in the Magherafelt and Maghera area a few weeks ago, seven commercial vehicles were seized and 1,000 litres of contaminated fuel also seized. Working in partnership to keep you safe.”

Police are also continuing to target criminals who target farmers and others in the rural community.

“We understand the importance of our rural communities and the role they play in the local economy and understand the fact that thefts of machinery and livestock hamper a farmer’s ability to do their job and causes significant upset, inconvenience and loss of income,” they said.
