“It is concerning not only because of the environmental damage but the long term health of local residents due to this indiscriminate fly-tipping.

“Anyone dumping rubbish in this way obviously has neither respect for themselves, the environment or their community.

“Local people are rightly concerned about the environmental impact and public health implications this illegal dumping is having on the area.

“I have been in contact with the Environmental Department and made them aware of the situation at Boyd’s Road and asked for a clean up of the area.

“There is no excuse for this indiscriminate dumping.

“The opening hours for the amenity sites are well known and published on a regular basis.

“If anyone has bulky items that need collected for disposal they should ring the Council Environmental Department to make arrangements for that to happen, not just leave a mess for council workers to clear up. “

The public can help Council tackle the problem. If anyone witnesses someone fly tipping or littering they can provide details such as vehicle registration numbers and Council will investigate with a view to taking formal action. To report an incident to Environmental Health ring 028 2766 0200.
