Storey attends Translink event

Commenting Mervyn Storey said: “I welcome the fact that Translink provides local representatives (MP/MLA/CLLR) with an opportunity to meet local managers. This also gave us the opportunity to discuss the latest public transport developments and also ask any questions relating to services in our constituency.

“The DUP representatives attending were Ian Paisley MP, Mayor John Finlay, Alderman Halliday, Campbell, Cousley Cllr Stevenson and myself.

“As public representatives, Transport is a key issue. The meeting with Translink staff both from Bus and Rail was a good forum for us to raise particular as well as general issues.

“Issues discussed included, upgrading of the Belfast to Londonderry rail line and associated works and knock on effects. With the phenomenal success of the Railway there has come the added problem of adequate seating for passengers on the new trains. This and possible solutions were discussed.

“It was good news to hear confirmation that work is soon to start at the Railway Station to provide an additional 60 park and ride spaces. This will be good news to the travelling public in Ballymoney. The on-going concerns regarding problems some disabled passengers are facing with the new bridge was again raised. I still remain concerned that a long-term solution to this issue has not been satisfactorily reached.

“I and my colleagues will continue to work with Translink on these and other issues.”
