Storey welcome for launch of International North West 200

North Antrim DUP MLA Mervyn Storey has welcomed the launch by First Minister Peter Robinson and Tourism Minister Arlene Foster of the 2012 Relentless International North West 200.

Speaking after attending the launch Mr Storey said:

“The annual North West 200 annual motorcycle race meeting continues to be one of Northern Ireland’s premier and largest annual sporting events.

“It is an event that I and many others have grown up with and enjoyed down the years.

“From the days of Tony Rutter and Mick Grant, through to the Armoy Armada and racing legends in the Dunlop family on to the current wave of riders, the North West 200 is one of the fastest and most exciting events of the kind anywhere in the world.

“This year it will once again have a starring place in Northern Ireland’s sporting calendar. It is an event recognised across the globe. I have no doubt that this year has the potential to surpass the many successes of previous years.

“Once again the Coleraine and District Motor Club have done a tremendous job in preparing for the crowds and excitement of the event.

“And once again I look forward to Northern Ireland being shown at its best along the stunning North Coast.”
