Storm Doris brings havoc to Mid Ulster's roads

There are reports of trees and branches blocking roads across Mid Ulster as Storm Doris lashes Northern Ireland.

A tree close to King's Island Primary School at Coalisland was brought down by the strong winds earlier this morning.

It's a busy road from the Loughshore to the motorway and motorists are being urged to exercise caution.

There is also a report of trees down near Derrytresk GAA club and also at Derrynoyd Road outside Draperstown.

About 8,000 homes and businesses are without power in southern areas of Northern Ireland. NI Networks reckons the figure is likely to rise.

It said trees and branches falling onto overhead electricity lines is the main cause of the damage.

There is a yellow warning for rain in all counties until early this afternoon when the winds are expected to ease.
