Strabane spent £164,000 on spin doctors

STRABANE District Council spent £164,936 on spin doctors last year - more than its larger neighbour, Londonderry.

Minister of the Environment Edwin Poots revealed spending on "public relations" staff and resources decreased in Strabane from 202,552 in 2007/8 to 164,936 in 2008/9.In Londonderry spending dipped from 145,025 in 2007/8 to 134,696 in 2008/9 whilst in Limavady it fell from 106,960 to 99,496 over the same period.

Mr Poots revealed that the PR spend in the North West was considerably less than in Belfast, Coleraine, Ballymena, Craigavon, Lisburn, Newry and Mourne, Newtonabbey and North Down.
