Strand Road stabbing: woman released

At around 00:05am, it was reported that a 42-year-old man was assaulted in the Strand Road area.

It is believed the man received stab wounds to his back and body during the incident.

At this stage, it is not unknown how many persons were involved in the assault.

Police said this morning that ‘enquiries were ongoing’ into the incident.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment to his injuries, that are not believed to be life threatening. Enquiries are continuing.
