Cllr Stewart McDonald, TUV Bannside, said: “I have received a worrying report about a man who was seen driving a silver Volkswagen attempting to gain entry into a locked car where two young children were waiting while their mother was in a nearby chemist in Ahoghill. The incident is reported to have occurred at 10.10am today outside Medicare on Main Street Ahoghill.

“Evidently the parents are shocked, and want to warn other families of what happened. Police have been informed.

“As my colleague Cllr Timothy Gaston stated yesterday about the (potential abduction) attempts in Cullybackey and Ballymena, I would reiterate his call for all people to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the PSNI.”

The Ballymena Times has requested a response from PSNI press office.
