Strays star on new stamps

THE founder of the Rainbow Animal Rehoming Centre, Helen Davis, has welcomed the new issue of Royal mail stamps which is celebrating the 150th anniversary of Battersea Dogs and Cats home.

The launch of the new edition of stamps took place at the Eglinton animal shelter on Thursday, and Ms Davis said she was delighted to see such a high-profile tribute to the work that goes on to find good homes for abandonned and abused animals which have been rescued.

“I had no idea that Battersea Dogs and Cats Home has been running for 150 years, but, hopefully, the new issue of stamps will help focus people’s attention on the plight of dogs and cats that gave rise to the starting of the home. The fact that the shelter has been runnig for 150 years is impressive,” she said.
