Strictly Come Dancing night raises thousands for charities

A Strictly Come Dancing type event held recently has raised thousands for four different charity organisations.

Dunloy man, Charley O’Kane, his daughter, Charlene, and members of Ballerin Camogie Club decided to run the event at the Tullyglass House Hotel, Ballymena, and were staggered when more than 700 people turned up on the night.

Ten couples had been selected to perform in front of judges and help contribute to a fund.

At the end of the night, the four charities - Tiny Life, Cancer Foundation for Children, Amazing Grace Fund and the Chernobyl Children Appeal fund - were each allocated 1400.

Charley O’Kane said he was bowled over by the response and thanked everyone who contributed to what he described as a “fantastic evening’s entertainment.”

“We would like to thank all those who travelled far and near for our dance. It was something of a surprise but we put a lot of hard work into the organisation and we reaped the benefits,” Charley said.
