Stroke Awareness Information Afternoon

THE Patient Participation Group for Drs Fannin, Hutchinson and Boyd are hosting a Stroke Awareness Information Afternoon in the Lecture Theatre at Ballymoney Health Centre on Wednesday, June 16.

This event is being held as part of Carers Week, a UK-wide programme of events of Particular interest to carers.

There will be free blood pressure and cholesterol testing from 1.30pm. At 2.30pm there will be a presentation from Dr Fergal Tracey, Consultant Physician Causeway Hospital.

Dr Tracey will talk about the symptoms of stroke, how to recognize a stroke, the management of acute stroke and stroke prevention.

His talk will be followed by Jillian Patchett, Director of Care, NI Chest, Heart and Stroke, who will talk about life after a stroke and what support is available for patients affected by a stroke and their carers.

Professional advisers including a Dietician will be present and advice will be available on smoking cessation and mobility aids.
