Strong performances at Cullybackey College

Sixth Form students at Cullybackey College have been celebrating success in their A Level studies.

There was a mixture of joy and relief, with many of the Year 14 leavers achieving results to be proud of and gaining a place in their chosen college or university.

College Principal, Mr David Donaldson noted: “We are delighted to celebrate these results with our students and we want to wish them the best for the next step in their lives.”

Mr. Donaldson said performances in the College remain consistent, with the proportion of students to achieve 2 or more A Levels at A* to E at 97%.

This year 74% of all entries gained a grade C or above, the highest in the last three years and the proportion of students to achieve three or more A Levels at A* to C was 37%.

Vice Principal, Mr Tim Manson, said many students had succeeded across a range of subjects.

“James Gailey, Head Boy, achieved A grades in Geography and History with a B in Psychology. James has worked consistently hard throughout his seven years at Cullybackey and goes on to study History at Queen’s University, Belfast. Ryan Kennedy and Calvin Galbraith achieved A*BC and Patrick Herbison achieved ABC.

“Some of the other top students who achieved superb results today included Ruth Barkley, Rebecca Clarke, Hannah Crawford, Mark Johnston, Jayne Boland, Joanne Galloway, Jonathan Gracey, Jonathan Graham and Lynsey McQuillan.

“Year 13 students have also excelled with 45% achieving 3 or more grades at C or above. This puts them into a strong position for their studies in Year 14 which should enable them to achieve the best grades possible.2
