Pleading with the court not to impose a disqualification, a solicitor said Watson just “over did the speed” as there were no other vehicles about.

He pointed out that Watson already had three penalty points on his licence and was now in danger of disqualification.

The lawyer said the defendant is an engineering student who required his licence to travel between work sites.

District Judge Alan White said he would not impose a disqualification but warned the defendant to slow down.
