Student council hard at work

ST BRENDAN'S Primary School's Student Council have been working hard and generating new ideas to help make their school even better.

The students have been involved with creating and selling bowls of fruit every Friday and they also requested that the outside toilets be given a facelift, which was completed last year.

They also helped design a Buddy Stop, with the help of Mr Rafferty for children to go to if they have no-one to play with, they have asked Mr Rafferty to refresh the paint as it has become weathered and he promises that this will be his next job.

Last year the council worked on developing a bird area and created a project all about our local birds.

They have proposed to their Principal Mrs Theresa O’Hagan that all the toilets in the school need painted and all locks on doors need replacing, this is being looked into by Mrs O’Hagan.

For health and safety reasons in the playground the pupils have asked that a number of lines be remarked, this will be completed by Mrs Sands as soon as the weather is dry.

The biggest project for the council at the moment is their Freggy Bins, all staff and pupils are asked to put their fruit and vegetables in the bin so they can be collected by student council members for the compost.

Mr Gerard O’Hara and Miss Siobhan McCaffery are the teacher leaders of the School Council, they are full of praise for all the students' hard work and well thought out ideas.
