Students aiming to reach new heights for charity

Students Claire Taggart, Jonathan McNeill, Aaron Bell, Nicole Todd, Lori Brown and Sharon Ross are part of a 35-strong team of friends and family from Larne who have all signed up to this nail-biting event, which involves going up 140ft in a crane basket and zipping from one side of the Lagan to the other at 40mph.

The money they raise will help Marie Curie Nurses to provide more free care to people with terminal illnesses in their own homes and in the Marie Curie Hospice, Belfast.

Group leader Claire Taggart spoke of her reasons for supporting the charity.

“My grandmother died from multiple myeloma in 2000 and as a family we have supported the charity for a number of years, including raising over £4,000 through a charity golf day three years ago.

“We will always support the charity for the amazing work they do and the Zipwire seemed like a good way to raise lots of money for Marie Curie Cancer Care. I was going to do it on my own, but involved all my friends and family to raise as much money as possible for the charity.”
