Students are building a bright future

The Northern Regional College in partnership with Skillbuild NI held a successful Inter Campus Competition.

Top trainees from across its campuses competed in Carpentry, Joinery, Plumbing, Brickwork, and Electrical Installation and Skillbuild, run by CITB NI, with the top local construction apprentices competing to win coveted titles in a various range of trades.

The winners of the Inter Campus will progress to the Northern Ireland finals and may then go on to represent Northern Ireland in the Skills Show UK and potentially at WorldSkills

Speaking at the presentation ceremony John Robinson from the Engineering and Built Environment Department at Northern Regional College, explained: “The Inter Campus Skillbuild competition contributes to the learners experience and improves the trainee’s confidence, while providing them the opportunity to test their skills against their college peers.”

This year, students competed in the following categories Brickwork, Carpentry, Electrical Installation, Joinery, and Plumbing Pipework.

Barry Neilson, Chief Executive CITB NI said, “Congratulations to all the competitors who have participated in the Inter Campus Skillbuild Competition. Skills competitions are an essential part of the pursuit of excellence in our training systems and working practices and we acknowledge the hard work and time that is put into all skills competitions. We extend further congratulations to those who have excelled in their category and will have an opportunity to demonstrate their talent on a wider scale in the Skillbuild NI Finals in March.”
