Students enjoy woodturning demo

The demonstration was a unique opportunity for the students to hear directly from internationally acclaimed woodturning expert, Sam Abernathy, a Professional Wood turner at Robert Sorby, the world’s premier manufacturer of specialist woodworking tools.

Sam demonstrated a wide range of various tools and techniques and students got the opportunity to learn the latest ‘tips of the trade’ and view the new and best from the Robert Sorby extensive woodturning range.

David Burleigh, SERC Carpentry lecturer explains: “I would like to thank Sam for delivering this unique master class.

“It gave the students a great opportunity to speak to the professionals working within the industry and to see for themselves how the skills they are learning now will be used in practice in the future.
