Students gain valuable knowledge from speaker

STUDENTS at the Southern Regional College's Banbridge campus recently enjoyed a visit from a representative of Enable NI.

Nigel Hampton, Project Manager at Enable NI spoke to a group of students about the support services they have for people with a learning disability, their families and carers.

The group of Higher National Diploma Health and Social Care students heard about all the different ways Enable NI promote social, recreational and educational opportunities to people with learning disabilities.

A number of students from the campus have been involved with Enable NI as part of their work placements. They were both challenged and encouraged by the work Enable NI do in caring for young people with disabilities.

Stephen Brookes, Health and Social Care tutor at the Southern Regional College, said, “We feel it is important to have speakers like Nigel come in to speak to our students and give them valuable knowledge which will not only help them as part of their course but also in their future careers.

“We would like to thank Nigel for giving of his time to visit the college.”
