Students receive ‘outstanding achievement’ awards

Four students who were chosen to work at Whitemountain Quarries Ltd as part of their placement year, were this week presented with an award for ‘outstanding achievement’.

Whitemountain, part of the Lagan Group, is a market leader in the quarry materials, bitumen, asphalt, surfacing, airfield maintenance, highway maintenance and civil engineering sectors.

Whitemountain provide structured training and development programmes for its 170 staff.

The company is also affiliated to the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and is a registered trainer, employing undergraduate students in their placement year providing them with valuable practical experience.

This year Whitemountain provided the opportunity for students studying ‘Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management’ at the University of Ulster to gain experience in the tendering process.

Four students were selected for ‘outstanding achievement’ and invited to Whitemountain headquarters in Lisburn to be presented with a special award.

Sara Freezer; Anthony McAveese; Mark Wadden and Antoin McMullan were presented awards by Mark Kelly, Managing Director.
