Students receive their I Can Lead award
Year 11 students from Coleraine College pictured after receiving their I Can Lead award as part of their Sports Leaders Programme. This qualification requires students to demonstrate their leadership skills through delivery of a number of coaching sessions with younger age groups and across different sports. The focus is on the individual's personal development, not just sporting ability.
Mrs Harris, Head of PE, said: “We have been running this award for a number of years now in the College and it is proving popular. Students are given the chance to develop not just their PE knowledge but also important life skills. It is very rewarding to watch them lead the sessions with our own Year 8 students and also those from the local primaries too. The feedback is always very positive.’
