Unfortunately, the Drumahoe club suffered their third defeat in a row as Ballinamallard United secured a 2-0 win, at the Riverside Stadium, on Saturday (November 16).

But before the game, David Falconer and Christian Donnelly, students from the university’s Magee College campus were busy handing out special flyers to fans at the turnstiles.

They also collected a healthy sum of money from generous Institute supporters before the match in order to help fund the group during ‘National Men’s Cancer Awareness Month.’

David and Christian are studying Business in Magee and decided to let people understand what help is out there for anyone that has been affected by cancer.

The Pink Panthers is a cancer support group directed at men, which was founded by the local women’s cancer support group, the Pink Ladies in 2013.

Both the Panthers and the Ladies are based in the Waterside but have meetings throughout the week spread across the city.

They group was set up to help support anyone who has been affected, either directly or indirectly, by cancer and to raise awareness about the different types of cancer and how the risk can be minimised.

“Institute Football Club and the University of Ulster students would like to thank everyone who turned up and supported the charity by donating money. The students would also like to thank Institute FC for the opportunity to collaborate and their support on the day,” a spokesman for the group said.
