Police are reminding parents of the need to advise children of what they should do if they get separated from them.

They say that this topic remains “as relevant as ever”.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Please speak to your young children about what to do if they get separated from you and ensure they are equipped to keep safe.”

Meanwhile, neighbourhood police officers attended Islandmagee Primary School to discuss the topic of “safer strangers”.

“Safer strangers” are people children can ask for help when they need it, such as police officers.

They are adults children can recognise easily when they are out and about.

Children and teenagers are also advised that they can seek help at a public place.

Parents can help by pointing out “safer strangers” and places where they can go for help.
