Success for GCSE students at both Friends’ and Wallace

Mr Moore said that pupils and their parents could be justifiably proud of the high standards that they had achieved and thanked staff for the hard work that had helped make this possible.

One hundred percent of pupils at Friends’ achieved the benchmark of 7 or more GCSEs at grades A* - C, including English and Maths, and over 65% of the grades obtained by pupils were at A* or A. In total 38 pupils gained 10 or more A*s and As and 8 pupils achieved 10 A*s - a remarkable achievement.

Meanwhile, at Wallace High School, in a year group of 175 students over a third of the students achieved 8 or more A*/A grades.

Deborah O’Hare, Principal, commented that a very pleasing number of students achieved A* grades.

Emily Cairns and Nathan Lindsay both achieved an outstanding 11 A* grades. Emily Howard achieved 10 A* and 1 A, Sarah Brolly and Katie Windrum both achieved 10 A*, Aristotle Epanomeritakis, Andrew Houston, Sarah Lafferty and Emily Lester each had their hard work rewarded with 9 A* and 2 A grades and Andrew Coalter achieved 9 A* and 1 A.

The Principal congratulated the students warmly and thanked the teaching and support staff whilst recognising too the important role played by parents in encouraging their young people.

Mrs O’Hare then went on to thank the important contribution made by the primary schools in the greater Lisburn area which have established such a firm foundation in the young people’s learning before they transfer to Wallace.
