Success for Loreto students in beginners' Mandarin

As part of the senior enrichment programme offered by Loreto College, students from years 11 to 14 were given the opportunity to undertake beginners lessons in Mandarin. Â

The school is one of a number of primary and secondary schools in the Coleraine area involved in the programme.

Students stayed in for one hour after school every Wednesday and Friday and were tutored in Beginner level Mandarin by a Chinese teacher.

Last May a number of students took their HSK 1 exam and were presented with their awards last week.

They were: Antonia Boorman, Aoife Keane, Chloe Stewart, Carmen Owens and Cain McKendry.

This programme continues in the College this year with two classes on offer, beginners and advanced. 

Both classes are facilitated by two Mandarin teachers, and the project is coordinated in Loreto by Mrs Siobhan Mullan, who congratulated the students on the achievement of their certificates.

Meanwhile, the school is also delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for Friends of the College to see the world-renowned Priests in concert. This famous classical musical group comprises three priests from different areas of the Province, namely Fr. Eugene and his brother Fr. Martin O’Hagan, who are originally from the village of Claudy, County Londonderry, and Fr. David Delargy from Ballymena. The College has been fortunate to be given access to the only date they are performing in this area to promote their latest album, Alleluia.The concert will take place in the Diamond Hall, Ulster University Coleraine, on Monday February 13 2017 at 7.30pm.
