Combining an avid interest in Irish music and a highly rewarding passion for camogie, Luiseach demonstrates the varied qualities and leadership potential demanded of this competition.

A student at Cross and Passion College, she follows in the footsteps of last year’s winner, Conleth Burns and 2013 representative, Ballycastle High School alumni, Emma Orr.

Should Miss Mahers triumph at the zonal finals to be held on Wednesday 18th November, she will be Ballycastle Rotary’s third ambassador in as many years – quite an achievement for the youngest Club in Ireland!

With Conleth currently completing his year 14 studies, Luiseach can, fortuitously, call upon his experience in all aspects of the competition - an ideal opportunity to keep one step ahead!

All members of Ballycastle Rotary wish Luiseach every success in the final round and we have no doubt that with the combined input of mentor, Mrs Elaine McCallum and fellow pupil, Conleth, she will have another award to add to an ever-growing collection.

RYLA events are for young people aged 16 to 17 years, who are about to start their working lives or to enter higher education, and who have shown leadership potential and are likely, as adults, to become future leaders. They are placed in challenging situations to help develop leadership and team bonding skills.
