Successful programme at Cullybackey Maine Festival

The Festival hosted a great line up of activities and entertainment for all the family.

The day’s events got under way with a Teddy Bears’ Picnic at the John McKelvey Community Centre in the morning, followed by an afternoon of tea and dancing.

The entertainment allowed those of all ages and abilities to come onto the dance floor and enjoy the entertainment.

The festival’s duck race unfortunately had to be cancelled due to heavy rain raising the water levels therefore making it unsafe to release the ducks. This however didn’t dampen the spirits and a draw took place to determine the prize winners.

Later in the day a cavalcade of Vintage Cars and tractors led by the Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Mrs Audrey Wales and Miss Teen Cullybackey, made their way to Cullybackey College where the evening ended with food, music, children’s entertainment and the draw for a football signed byBertie McNeilly was announced as the winner of the signed football, but opted to donate the football to local, young football enthusiast Stuart Reid, who was over the moon to receive the football.

Mrs Ruth Orr, chairperson of the Cullybackey Development Association, said: “We are delighted with the support we have received from the people of the village and particularly to NISA and EUROSPAR and all the other sponsors for their generous contribution to all activities.

“Without this support the Festival would not have happened.”
