Limavady DUP public representative, Alan Robinson said, “Our community is very proud of the work that Simon Chase was doing in Afghanistan but equally the entire community is shocked and devastated at his death. Whilst I did not know Simon in a personal capacity I was however personally very sad to learn of his passing in such tragic circumstances in far away lands. Our first thoughts of course are with his partner, Norma, and his family circle, but also for his colleagues in Afghanistan and on the mainland.

“The work carried out by security personnel in Afghanistan is incredibly brave and I want to pay tribute to their dedication in a hostile environment. Every day they put their lives on the line to help make a difference to the many affected by the conflict.

As the Roe Valley mourns the passing of Simon, I am confident that the Limavady public will rally around to give support to Norma and her family as they try to come to terms with their sudden bereavement. I’m sure Simon’s family and friends will take some comfort from the fact that he lived his life to the full, lived the life that he loved to live whilst doing the job that he was so professional at.”
