Suicide charity PIPS planning family support group events

pips Larne is planning to start up family support group meetings for anyone bereaved through suicide.

Carlee Letson said it was hoped the meetings would start up at the end of August.

“They are not all doom and gloom, they include relaxation and therapy evenings and give people the opportunity to emet wiht others who have suffered the loss of a loved one and are able to support each other.

“At all times, a facilitator and co-facilitator will be on hand to help anyone who becomes distressed,” she said.

Anyone aged 18 and over who would like to take part in the meetings is invited to contact PIPS Larne on 07530 797716, Any families with young children who need help are always invited to contact the charity as specialist help is available for children.

PIPS Larne is also currently discussion with the hope of providing ‘Mind your Mates’ training in Larne School from September.

Any other schools, youth clubs, church groups and anyone working with young people in the ages of 16-24 who would like to avail of this training is urged to contact the charity.

Meanwhile, the charity would like to make everyone aware that it exist to help anyone who is suffering from depression, anxiety, abuse, trauma or anything that is making them feel suicidal or causing them to self harm. This includes the use of excessive alcohol or drugs.

“Do not hesitate to contact us or if you have concerns about then also please contact us. We can provide immediate help either over the phone or face-to-face,” said Carlee.

“PIPS Larne aim is to reduce suicide in the greater Moyle community,” she added.
