Summer league boosts charity

THE Charity Summer League continues to go from strength with another amazing fundraising effort.

This year the summer league has raised 5,870 for the Down's and Proud charity.

The tournament runs from April to the end of August in Lord Lurgan Memorial Park, with 20 teams taking part this year.

Funds were raised by organising quiz nights in the International Bar, St Peter’s GFC and the INF club in Lurgan.

The presentation night was held recently in the Woodville Arms.

The summer league would like to thank all the teams, referees and officials who took part and helped in any way.

They would also like to thank those who gave donations; Ronnie McCabrey, Henderson’s Fruit and Veg, Fintan O’Hagan’s, Bags Plus, Blackthorn Gift Shop, Farmway Meats, Dessie Heaney’s, Anthony McDonald and Thomas French.

Special thanks to Timmy Hughes at the International Bar for his continued support, Gary Bunting at Victoria Junction, everyone at the INF and St Peter’s GFC for their continual fundraising support, Pat Morgan, DJ Ciaran Kelly, Tony McMullan for printing the tickets and posters, and Kenny and all the staff at the Woodville Arms.

Over the years, the charity summer league has raised more than 100,000 for different local projects.

This is a community driven project and organisers value the support received each year.

Anyone wishing to volunteer to help out with fundraising for the summer league should contact Kevin McLoughlin.
