Liz Johnston from the Town Marketing Team said: “The event was a big hit with shoppers and initial feedback from the trade is good.

“The town was buzzing as shoppers experienced the diversity of our food culture. A big thank you to butchers, bakers, greengrocers, chefs for supporting the toon taster by giving so generously of their time and product and to all who came to town to support the event.”

Commenting on the event Development Chair, Alderman Bill Kennedy, said: “This taster event was a pilot to gauge interest from trade and shoppers.

“We now plan to create a project team from participating businesses to explore the development of a larger food festival and from what I hear the enthusiasm created has generated interest and the team could be “cooking up a storm” for us to enjoy.”
