Under the auspices of Christian Endeavour, Lauren Ferguson, the daughter of Ivan and Margaret Ferguson, is one of a small number of young adults to make it onto the Exodus team which is travelling to Budapest on June 29.

“We will be going to Budapest on June 29 and will be staying there until July 10,” said Lauren, who is looking forward to the two-week trip.

“In that time the main priority will be working in children’s clubs. There will be Christian fellowship and the focus will be on that. We will have a simple Gospel message with a memory verse, and songs, and then we will play some games like parachute, which the children seem to love,” she said.

Lauren is an empathetic young woman, who has a strong record of helping those she meets, and the work the Exodus group does in Budapest will be loosely based on a similar trip last year, where the young people also visited and helped at a homeless shelter, handed out food aid to homeless people and visiting old people’s homes.

“I imagine we will be doing much the same sort of thing while we are out in Budapest, but mostly our work will involve children’s groups,” she said.

In the first week each day will start with devotional time, while in the evening there will be time set aside to study a book of the Bible.

In the second week, the young people will take part in a bush camp to help them focus on themselves and their relationship with God and growing in faith.

Each delegate has to raise around £450 each, and on Saturday, May 3, a Coffee Morning and cake sale will take place at Faughan Presbyterian Church, from 11am to 1pm.
