Suspected stolen goods recovered

POLICE in Ballymena arrested a 45-year-old woman on Thursday (October 4) on suspicion of theft from a commercial premise in the town centre.

She was later released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Following a subsequent house search of a property in the Ballymena area, goods with an estimated value of £25,000-£30,000 were recovered and a PSNI spokesperson said police suspect that these items are stolen.

He said police will be liaising with businesses within the Ballymena area in the coming weeks to establish if any of the recovered items match descriptions of items that have previously been reported as stolen.

Commenting on the recovery, Inspector Pete Bouma said: “In the current economic environment, a business cannot afford to sustain losses through shoplifting or theft. Police in Ballymena are working closely with businesses to ensure that the issue of theft from business is tackled. This recent recovery of property is significant and it is representative of our ongoing commitment to challenging this type of crime.”
