Suspended sentence for disorderly behaviour

A MAN has been given a three month custodial sentence - suspended for two years - after pleading guilty to disorderly behaviour.

Frank Morgan (26) of Brookvale, Bendooragh appeared at North Antrim Magistrates Court following the offence on July 16 this year.

The court was told police were called to a report of a disturbance in the area.

When they arrived Morgan - who is currently unemployed - began to hurl abuse at them and when spoken to by officers appeared to have drink taken, the court heard.

A short time later he began to shout again, calling police “black b******s”, a prosecutor said.

A defence solicitor said his client claimed he had been threatened by others that evening and had been shouting at them.

District Judge Richard Wilson heard the incident occurred during the period of a suspended sentence which was imposed on Morgan in August 2008 in relation to another offence.

Mr Wilson said he would not activate that sentence instead giving Morgan “a further opportunity”.

Morgan was given a three month custodial sentence - suspended for two years - and fined 250.
