Suspended sentence for woman who stole cosmetics products

A BALLYMENA woman has been given a suspended six-month prison sentence for shoplifting offences.

Leanne Williamson (26), of Dunclug Gardens, admitted stealing tanning mousse and hair colouring from two different stores on May 16 and September 23 last year.

Barrister Stephen Law said that Williamson had stayed out of trouble during the six-month deferral period as she awaited sentencing.

District Judge Des Perry said he hoped the suspended sentences hanging over Williamson’s head would serve as a reminder that “avoiding thieving would be worthwhile”.
