Swann calls for guarantee on NRC’sfuture

A North Antrim MLA has challenged the Employment and Learning Minister “to give cast iron guarantees that the future of the Northern Regional College’s Ballymoney campus is secure”.

UUP MLA Robin Swann sought the guarantees after sending a written question to the DEL Minister, Stephen Farry.

Mr Swann said: “My challenge came after I asked the Minister for Employment and Learning for an update on any future proposals for the Northern Regional College’s Ballymoney campus.”

In his response to Mr Swann, the Minister said: “The Northern Regional College is in the final stages of completing an Outline Business Case (OBC) which will identify the value for money options required to address accommodation deficiencies within its estate, including the Ballymoney campus. The OBC is expected to be presented to my Department later this month for assessment.”

Mr Swann added: “The Ballymoney Campus, or ‘Tech’, has always played a major role in the life of the borough’s educational provision. I urge the Minister to give a cast iron guarantee that the Campus’s future is 100% secure.”
