Swann shines successful light into Dervock

Mr Robin Swann, the North Antrim UUP Assemblyman has worked with the relevant agency to have much-needed, night-time street lighting restored at Millar Avenue in Dervock.

Assemblyman Swann praised the “swift and caring action” of his party colleague, Danny Kennedy MLA, who is also the Stormont Minister for Regional Development. Following complaints received from residents, and information that the outage may have been caused by Northern Ireland Electricity works in the area, Mr Swann worked with Minister Kennedy’s Department and NIE.

Minister Kennedy said: “I can confirm that a night-time inspection of lanterns at Millar Avenue on 29 August indicated that all of the street lights were out. Street lighting engineers from my department responded to this report on 1 September, and discovered a fault with the NIE supply to the control equipment, which was reported to NIE. My operations and maintenance staff were able to provide a temporary supply to the control equipment and lighting was restored to Millar Avenue on 5 September. NIE restored the permanent supply to the control equipment on 9 September.”

Mr Swann added: “I thank the Minister for his quick response on restoring the permanent supply, thereby also restoring an important health and safety facility to the Millar Avenue locality. I warmly welcome this fast and efficient restoration and I see it as further proof of the UUP working for the people of that area.”
