And it will look brand spanking new as all the work at Banbridge Leisure Centre is running to schedule and the pool is due to be reopened on Tuesday 1st September.

Pictures posted on the Banbridge Leisure Centre Facebook page show the work in full swing on the slide, or ‘flume’ at the pool, which will be kitted out with a number of new clear panels, a brand new water feature and a new traffic light / timer system to let those at the top know when to launch!

A spokesperson from Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon District Council confirmed that: “All work on the swimming facilities in Banbridge Leisure Centre is on target to be completed as planned with the pool scheduled to reopen on Tuesday 1 September.”

There is also essential maintenance work being carried out on the slide while the pool area is being fitted with new LED lighting.

The changing area is also being given a fresh new look, almost totally revamped. It is being fitted with new floor tiles, wall tiles, new cubicles and internal doors, completely refurbed shower and toilet areas, new LED lighting and a new ceiling.

The only fixture that will remain from before are the lockers, which were only installed two years ago and are being allowed to hold on into the new era.
