Sympathies from Mayor

He said: "We are shocked and deeply saddened by the news of the tragic death of Lieutenant Neal Turkington in Afghanistan last week.

“On behalf of Craigavon Borough Council, I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the family and friends of this heroic soldier at this extremely sad time.

"As a mark of respect and to give the community an opportunity to express their own sympathy, three books of condolence have been opened in the borough - at the civic centre, Portadown Town Hall and Lurgan Town Hall.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.”

The books of condolence will be open during normal office hours, Monday to Friday until Friday, August 6.
