In January the Sentinel reported how Foyleside planned to turn the old Jessops store into a restaurant.

It applied for permission to put in a new window and entrance door to Unit 6, Level 4 of the centre and convert it to a restaurant and hot food unit.

New documents submitted with the planning office reveal the store will be occupied by Synge and Byrne.

Over 350 people have applied for 30 jobs in the shop, which is due to open this summer.

Before Christmas brothers Damien and Adrian Garvey asked interior fit-out, shopfitting and specialist joinery service firm Marcon to kit out three new ‘coffee kitchen’ units in Newtownabbey, Belfast and Londonderry.

Damien Garvey described the proposed ethos: “No two Synge & Byrnes will be the same. While there will be common features, for example the counter and backdrop, we plan to inject some individualism into every location, depending on the specifics of the particular building.”
