Taghnevan Drive to be resurfaced

TAGHNEVAN Drive is to be resurfaced by April, according to a local councillor.

Sinn Fin Councillor Tommy O’Connor said the roadway through the middle of Taghnevan is to be resurfaced within the current financial year.

The new Central Area councillor said that he had first been approached about the condition of the road at Taghnevan Drive by local residents while canvassing during the Westminster Election and had referred the matter to the then councillor for the area John O’Dowd.

On taking up his role as a Councillor for Central Mr O’Connor had contacted Roads Service for an update on their progress in resolving the issue and he said:

“I had initially asked my colleague Cllr O’Dowd to contact Roads Service about fixing the numerous potholes along the length of this road and on becoming a Councillor I personally followed up on the issue. I was pleased to discover that following Mr O’Dowd’s involvement it had been agreed to not only fix the potholes but to resurface the road.”

Councillor O’Connor concluded: “I have been assured that the resurfacing project is included in the current financial budget and should be completed before the end of the financial year. Sinn Fin will continue to monitor this issue and follow it through to a successful conclusion."
