“We are so grateful to all of you for such an amazing result. And on Friday August 31, we’re asking you to join us again – whether family or group of friends/colleagues – to help raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care and enjoy a few lengths of the pool.

“How far can you help us in ‘BanD’ - the Banbridge and Dromore Fundraising Group - to swim? Every length counts! The river Bann is 129km long; it is the longest river in Northern Ireland. That’s equivalent to 5,160 lengths of our swimming pool in Banbridge Leisure Centre. All we’re asking is that your family swims a few lengths (15 minutes) and raises a minimum of £10 sponsorship. If you pre-register by Tuesday 28th August we’ll give you a free relaxed swim straight after your chosen Time Slot. So hurry, don’t delay, sign up today:

“Events like our ‘Swim4Life – The Bann & Beyond’ help us to highlight the work of the charity and are a valuable source of income to help continue this important work.

“Our small (but growing) group BanD began in November 2008 – hard to believe it is already three years! I have been Chair since our creation. We are finding terrific support in our local community and are hoping that you will be willing to help us in other ways. For instance volunteering a couple of hours during our Great Daffodil Appeal.”
