Take an icy Dip for charity

There is no better way to clear away the New Year’s Day cobwebs than a plunge in the Atlantic Ocean.

That is why CLIC Sargent is calling for local people to brave the elements and sign up for a sponsored Dip at Portrush East Strand Beach to raise money for children and young people with cancer.

The Dip happens at 12pm on 1 January, and like any traditional festive activity, all participants can warm up with cup of something special after their dip.

“I’m sure there are lots of locals who would love to join in the fun and help us raise much-needed funds to make a difference to the lives of children and young people with cancer,” says Michelle Carolan, Community Fundraising Manager at CLIC Sargent.

“Whether you’ll be braving the dip yourself, or coming to support a ‘dipper’ we would love to see you there. We also encourage anyone who wants to add some extra fun, to come in fancy dress.”

CLIC Sargent in Northern Ireland provides clinical, practical and emotional support for children and young people with cancer, and their families, from the point of diagnosis. All proceeds from the New Year’s Day Dip will help CLIC Sargent provide vital services, including care professionals in hospitals and grants to help families meet extra costs.

Participants are asked to pay a registration fee of £10 and should aim to raise a minimum of £100 sponsorship.
