There are some challenging parts but what a view! It’s a journey not to be hurried, every twist and turn in the path revealing spectacular new scenery. Legends and history merge along the route and a wealth of local geology and wildlife can be enjoyed.

The walk will start at 10am on Saturday 1st September 2012 with registration open from 9am. There will be free car parking facilities at Carrick-a-rede rope bridge (Quarry Car Park) and a bus will take walkers from there to the beginning of the route at The Giants Causeway.

Event Organiser Gillian Thomson saiD: “This is a brilliant opportunity to get involved and help out your local cancer charity. The Giants Walk has helped raise over £100,000 towards Action Cancers lifesaving services – so getting involved and taking part can make a difference to someome’s life. Not only will you pass by some of Northern Ireland’s most stunning scenery, but you’ll be getting fit and healthy at the same time!”

In order to take part, all you have to do is forward Action Cancer a registration fee of £10 and raise as much sponsorship as you can, there is no minimum target attached, we just ask you to do what you can.

The money raised from the walk will help Action Cancer to save lives and support people affected by cancer in Northern Ireland. It is now predicted that one in three people will be given a diagnosis of cancer at some stage in their lives.

Action Cancer provides a range of vital, life-saving services including breast cancer screening, Men’s MOT health checks, health promotion, research, counselling and complementary therapies. Services are available regionally through the mobile facilities on the BIG BUS and at Action Cancer House in Belfast.

Action Cancer does not currently receive any government funding and needs to raise at least £3.2 million a year to continue its services. Therefore, your support with this event will be very much appreciated!
