Talent '˜unbelievable' in NW says OSV boss

The talent and workforce in Londonderry is 'absolutely unbelievable' according to the co-founder of personnel administration specialist, One Source Virtual, Wesley Bryan, who says the Texan business certainly has no regrets about establishing a base here.

Mr Bryan says the company, which last year announced it wants to create at least 289 new jobs in Londonderry, made a strategic decision to come here after a long selection process.

He made the comments in conversation with Andy Spence, a HR Transformation specialist with 20 years experience leading complex change management programmes in the UK, Europe and US, who blogs with HRN.

Asked why the company decided to come to Londonderry he said: “Because we knew the next phase of our business was to launch our UK Human Resource Management System (HRMS) and Payroll services, we knew it would be strategically beneficial to have a service centre in that area.

“After a long selection process, we finally settled on Derry because of its labour market, stellar talent, and the positive relationship its government has on businesses.

“The talent and workforce in Derry is absolutely unbelievable. We certainly haven’t regretted our decision,” he said.

Last year Bill Thomas an investor and board member indicated that the company wanted to become the new DuPont in the sense that “we want to be an aspirational employer of choice” and a “big contributor to the future of the city.”

He said it was an outsourcer but not as we know it: its staff quit rate, for instance, was just seven per cent, world class for a sector dogged by high voluntary turnover.

One Source aims to employ 289 people in Londonderry by 2018.

The company is on the Forbes 100 list of most promising American companies and has just secured over 100million dollars in investment.
