Talking ‘turkey’ at Stormont

The Maiden City Motorclub ‘2012 Shackleton Ballykelly Turkey Run’ rally has been launched at Stormont by First Minister Peter Robinson and deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness.

Organised by the Maiden City Motor Club and sponsored by RiverRidge Recycling, the Turkey Run will give motorsport enthusiasts a chance to blow off the cobwebs and enjoy an action-packed day away from the usual post-Christmas activities.

Jon McIvor, Clerk of the Course, said: “The Club is indebted to OFMDFM for the use of Shackleton. In these austere times the Club has found it difficult to run rally stages these last few years, but with their assistance we saw an absolutely fantastic event in August of this year and all being well we are hoping to replicate this come Friday, December 28.

“It is all systems go at MCMC for the RiverRidge Recycling Turkey Run Tarmac Rally Stages. Preparations are well underway. Entries are coming in and include anumber of WRC cars – rumour has it that there might be a Mini or two in there already. There will be a total of five stages to ensure that proceedings are finished before dark and prize giving will be in the Drummond Hotel in Ballykelly later that evening. There are limited number of places still left so I’d encourage anyone who are still making up their mind to get your entry in soon so as not be disappointed.

The closing date for entries is Friday, December 14 and entry forms can be found at www.maidencitymotorclub.com.

The Maiden City Motor Club’s chosen charity is the Foyle Hospice.
