Taming the Tiger

Tony Anthony, the author of the bestselling book ‘Taming the Tiger’ is coming to Ballymoney during the first week of March.

When Tony was a child of just 4 years of age his father became ill and he was sent to live with his maternal grandparents in China. His grandfather, a Shaolin monk and Grand Master in the ancient martial art of kung fu schooled him in its ways and disciplines.

His dedication to martial arts and his many hours of training resulted in him becoming a highly disciplined, truly enlightened disciple and an unbeatable combat warrior.

He competed in tournaments, often behind closed doors, and he held the title of world champion 3 times. His book, ‘Taming the Tiger, has sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide and has been translated into 30 different languages.

It tells the story of Tony’s upbringing and also his subsequent progression into the bodyguard profession to the rich and powerful; his downward spiral into the world of crime and ultimately his incarceration in the infamous Nicosia Central prison in Cyprus.

It was while he was in prison he was visited and befriended by Ulsterman Michael Wright, a missionary from Carrickfergus who had read about Tony’s dramatic capture in the newspapers and sought to visit him. As a result of this friendship Tony’s life underwent a dramatic change and he turned from being a violent man to someone who now travels extensively speaking in packed auditoriums, prisons and schools telling how his life has been transformed.

Tony is speaking at Jordanstown campus on Monday 5th March; in the Tullyglass House Hotel on Tuesday 6th March; the Joey Dunlop centre in Ballymoney on the 7th March, and Coleraine University on the 8th March. The events start at 8pm and admission is free. It is hoped that many will take this opportunity to come along and hear this dynamic speaker.
